Krotz Springs-A Mass of Christian Burial for Mercedese Dupre’ will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Krotz Springs, La. Father Henry Antony will celebrate the Mass. The Rite of Committal and interment will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas, LA.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Krotz Springs. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday evening in the funeral home led by Fr. Henry Antony. Visitation will continue Friday, January 30, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
Mercedese Dupre’, age 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at her residence in Krotz Springs, Louisiana. She was born on January 14, 1934, in Grand Prairie, Louisiana, and was a longtime resident of Krotz Springs, Louisiana.
Mercedese served as a first responder for Fire District #1 in St. Landry Parish. Additionally, she worked many years as a secretary for the Krotz Springs Water System, demonstrating an unwavering work ethic and dedication to her responsibilities. She cherished the time spent with her children and all of her grandchildren. She embraced every moment with them, creating lasting memories filled with love and joy.
In her leisure time, Mercedese found great pleasure in gardening and reading a good book. She was also an enthusiastic cook, known for her delightful meals that brought family and friends together.
She is survived by her four sons: Blanchard (Sheila) Dupre’ of Thibodaux; Roger Dupre’ of Krotz Springs; Jean (Marsha) Dupre’ of Krotz Springs; and Myron (Sheri) Dupre’ of Thibodaux; four daughters: Debbie Barron of Ville Platte; Verna (Charlie) Melancon of Krotz Springs; Rosemary Batton of Krotz Springs; and Myra (Jimmie) Muse of Port Barre; 27 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 76 years, Mayonce Dupre’; her parents, Joseph Abey Dupre’ and Thelma Jones Dupre’; her daughters, Angela Aymond and Brenda McGee; her sons-in-law, Ferrell McGee, Dalvin Barron, and David Batton; her daughter-in-law, Trallis Dupre’; her grandchildren, Mallory Aymond and Keven Dupre’; her great-grandson, Louis Diesi and her sisters, Lou Ethel Dupre’ Soileau and Elsie “Teny” Mae Dupre’ Bazar.
Pallbearers will be Shaun Dupre’, Jacob Dupre’, Roger Lee Dupre’, Parker Muse, Shaine McGee, and Gabe Kidder.
Mercedese Dupre' will be remembered fondly for her nurturing spirit, and the joy she brought to those around her. Her legacy will endure in the hearts of her loved ones and the community she served.
