Michael Ray Cummings age, 70, passed away at his residence in Opelousas, Louisiana, on July 16, 2026. He was born on December 23, 1955, in Church Point, Louisiana.

Visitation will be held at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home from 10:00am until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas. A Memorial Service will follow in the funeral home, with Brother Benny Reppond officiating the service.

Throughout his life, his devotion to his family was unwavering. Michael is survived by his wife of 42 years, Stacey Cummings. Together they built a family that was Michael's greatest pride. He leaves behind his daughters, Heather Cummings and Allison Cummings (Dustin Kilsby), each of whom brought him immeasurable joy. Michael’s legacy also continues through his grandchildren: Shiloh, Eli, Evan, and Adalynn. He is also survived by his brother, Charles Cummings; a host of loving nieces and nephews; one niece being Paije Short, who looked up to Michael as another father figure.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Alex “A.B.” Benjamin Cummings and Mildred Pitre Cummings and his brother, Kenneth Cummings.

Those who knew Michael will remember his deep appreciation for the simple pleasures. He had a particular passion for attending car shows, where he loved sharing stories among fellow enthusiasts. An animal lover at heart, Michael’s gentle spirit shone brightest when he was spending time with his dog, Sissy, whose companionship he cherished immensely.

Michael’s family, friends, and all whose lives he touched are left with a wealth of treasured memories and a legacy of kindness that will not be forgotten.
