Michael Durel Williams was born on May 8, 1949, in Opelousas, Louisiana. He passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at the age of 76. He lived a life characterized by dedication, service, and love for his family and country.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Krotz Springs, LA. Father Henry Antony will officiate the service. The Readers will be Christine Schexneider, Christy Williams, and Casey Guidry. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the St. Anthony Catholic Church Cemetery in Krotz Springs.
Visitation will begin on Monday, March 2, 2026, in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Krotz Springs beginning at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral home will reopen on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. until time of service at 10:00 a.m. A Eulogy service will be held at 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday morning in the funeral home chapel done by Christy Williams and Casey Guidry.
Michael had a commendable, working career as he worked at the Exxon Refinery as a fireman for 18 years. His commitment to safety extended beyond his time as a fireman, as he spent an additional 20 years in safety systems and safety inspections, ensuring the well-being of his colleagues and the community with the companies he serviced.
As a proud U.S. veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Michael served during the Vietnam War, embodying the values of courage and dedication having served his nation with honor. His military service was a testament to his character and his love for his country as he worked as an aviation electrician for many years. His commitment to his country was matched only by his devotion to his family.
Throughout his life, he exemplified the values of integrity and resilience, qualities that influenced those around him. He was known for his very loving heart, always cherishing his family dearly and welcoming other families as his own. He found joy in the simpler things in life, such as spending time outdoors hunting and fishing, and he had a special affinity for cooking.
An avid sports fan, Michael devoted much of his time to following LSU sports and passionately supported the New Orleans Saints football team. He enjoyed attending sports events and relished the camaraderie they brought.
He is survived by his three sons, Jeremy Williams of Lafayette; Jason Williams and wife, Christy of Walker; and Evan Williams of Baton Rouge; two brothers, Page Breaux of Baton Rouge; and Jon Timothy Williams and wife, Christy of Krotz Springs; two grandchildren, Nicholas Bowman and Lucas Williams; and three great-grandchildren, Benjamin Bowman, Adalynn Bowman, and Kennedy Lassere. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Tessa Thibodeaux of LaPlace; a host of nieces, nephews, bonus children of the heart: Dakota, Caleb, Christina, and Matthew; and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Vivian Marie Breaux; his father, Durel Higdon Williams; maternal grandparents, Foston James Breaux, Sr. and Mary Sedonia Devillier Breaux; paternal grandparents, Robert Lynn Williams and Lovenia Higdon Williams; sister, Jacqueline “Jackie” Thibodeaux; and three brothers, Matthew “Mat” Thibodeaux, Terry Allen Thibodeaux, and Danny Williams.
Pallbearers will be Jason Williams, Evan Williams, Jon Timothy Williams, Nicholas Bowman, Lucas Williams, and Jeremy Williams.
Michael leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and family connection that will endure in the lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all.
