Mrs. Johnny Bidstrup, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the age of 90. She was born on August 9, 1935, in Opelousas, Louisiana, she touched the lives of many throughout her remarkable journey.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Ms. Johnny Bidstrup will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 3:00 pm at Our Lady Queen of Angels Cathloic Church in Opelousas, Louisiana. The Very Reverend Monsignor Keith DeRouen will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and burial will be held at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm. A Rosary will be recited in the funeral home at 1:00 pm by Cecille Dupre.
The pallbearers will be Colton Marks, Brent Bidstrup, Kade Bidstrup, Konnor Bidstrup, Brandon Mouret and Brandon Reggio.
Johnny dedicated many years of her life to her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for Dr. A.E. Williams, caring for countless patients with compassion and expertise. Her journey also led her to work at Hancock Fabrics, The Cottage, and Dandilion, where her warm spirit and kindness illuminated every workplace.
Those who knew Johnny will fondly remember her love for her grandchildren. She cherished every moment spent with them, taking pride in caring for them and nurturing their spirits. Johnny had the ability to make friends everywhere she went and never met a stranger.
Johnny's hobbies reflected her vibrant personality and creativity. She was an exceptional seamstress with a passion for sewing and cross-stitching, often crafting beautiful items for family and friends. She enjoyed being outdoors and loved cutting her grass.
Among her proudest accomplishments were raising Brittany Spaniels and caring for her cats, illustrating her deep affection for animals. Johnny was also an avid cook, known for her delicious homemade roux, which she loved to share generously with others.
She is survived by her son, William "Billy" Bidstrup (Charlene) of Carencro, Louisiana; her grandchildren, Brent Bidstrup (Cassie), Mark Robin, Johnny Walters, Spring Christenson (Adam), Chris Walters, and Danielle Reggio (Brandon); and her great-grandchildren, Kade Bidstrup, Konnor Bidstrup, Karlie Bidstrup, Imogene Reggio, Eleanor Reggio, Hailey Nichols, Hayden Nichols, Cambrie Walters, Gavin Walters, and Lynnon Walters.
Johnny is preceded in death by her husband, W.J. Bidstrup, Jr.; her parents, Lester and Veranick Darbonne Carriere; her daughter, Lester Williams; her sister, Carlyian Lafleur; and her grandson, Billy Walters.
Mrs. Johnny Bidstrup will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and care will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
