Opelousas – Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a walkthrough visitation will be held for Mrs. Nellie Vizinat Guillory on Thursday, December 31, 2020, from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM in the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany. A reminder that all entering the church must have masks and must abide by social distancing. Mass will be celebrated by Father Laurent De Prins at 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 31, 2020 in the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany. Rite of Committal will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park.
Mrs. Nellie Vizinat Guillory, age 78, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 28, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Nellie was a faithful member of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, taught Catechism at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church for many years and was a Sunrise Youth Group Sponsor. Nellie's main love was her family, but she also enjoyed painting, cooking, reading, sewing, queenly gatherings, socializing with friends and caring for her special needs students. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, Joseph Douglay Guillory, Jr. (Sharon); her daughters, Connie Guillory (Abe Laird), Stephanie Van Fleet (Michael) and her sister, Barbara Cooper (David). She is also survived by six grandchildren, Sarah Guillory Palmer, Christopher Bordelon, Jennifer Guillory Hebert, Erin Guillory, Anna Guillory and William Van Fleet and six great-grandchildren, Adelaide, Lillian, Jack, Dawson, Bailey and Luke.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Douglay Guillory, Sr. and her parents, Lastie And Corine Vizinat.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Douglay Guillory, Jr., Christopher Bordelon, Erin Guillory, Anna Guillory, Jordan Hebert, Robert Fontenot, William Van Fleet and Michael Van Fleet.
