Norma Darby

Grand Coteau - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Norma Lee Darby at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2022, in the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Grand Coteau, La. Reverend Mark Kramer will celebrate the Mass.  Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Charles Borromeo Church Cemetery.

It is with deep sorrow we regretfully announce the passing of Norma Lee Darby on Monday, August 29, 2022, at the age of 80.

Norma enjoyed doing arts and crafts and painting.  She was known as the “neighborhood grandma”.  Norma was a loving and caring wife to her husband, Easton Darby, Jr. and will be remembered mostly for being a kind and loving person. She loved spending time with her family, grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She will forever be remembered and missed by sons, Brian Darby (Christie) and Michael Darby (Rhonda).  She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Ryan Darby (Mercedes), Phillip Darby (Samantha), Olivia Patin (Jude), Ashley Darby and Chris Darby (Destini); Carol Darby (wife to Danny Darby), Mitchell Matthew (husband to Christy Matthews), and nineteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Easton Darby, Jr.; her parents, Milton Savoie and Lilly Theriot Savoie; her son, Danny Dean Darby, her sister, Delores Savoie and her granddaughter, Christy Matthews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 2, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas.  A Rosary will be prayed Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. by Cecille Dupre.  Visitation will continue Saturday, September 3, 2022, from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas.

Pallbearers will be Brian Darby, Phillip Darby, Ryan Darby, Chris Darby, Mike Darby and Jude Patin.  Honorary pallbearer will be Treven Darby.
