Olita Mary Richard Credeur

Opelousas- Funeral services for Mrs. Olita Richard Credeur will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2023, in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas. Deacon Dwayne Joubert will officiate the services. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas, LA.

The family requests visiting hours to be held from 9:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2023, in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas. A Rosary will be prayed at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Olita Mary Richard Credeur on Friday, March 31, 2023, at her residence in Opelousas, LA, at the age of 87. She was a native of Prudhomme, LA, and a longtime resident of Opelousas.

Olita was a loving wife and a caring mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister.  Her life was well-lived as a woman of unwavering integrity.  She was a faithful child of God, a devout Catholic, a bible scholar, and previously participated in the Come, Lord Jesus! Bible Study group. She loved to sing and worship God but also loved to sing and cut up with her kids.  She was proud of her life as a mother, role model, and caretaker of her children as her children were indeed her life.  She was treasured for her delicious homemade holiday festive treats and goodies, especially her peanut brittle, divinity fudge, and mini pecan pies. Her talent was in sewing clothes for her family, crochet pieces, handmade quilts, toys, and beating her kids in Scrabble.  Her love for the outdoors was spent gardening, appreciating hummingbirds, and fishing as a pastime. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her three sons, Clint Credeur and wife, Lessie of Sunset; Robert Credeur of Youngsville; and David Credeur and wife, Alyssa of Lafayette; her four daughters, Jennifer Credeur of Opelousas; Lisa McHan and husband, Steve of Reeves; Carmen Nall and husband, Gary of Opelousas; and Marline Credeur of Pensacola, FL; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jean Arvilien Credeur, Jr.; her parents, Philogene Richard and Odelia Martha Cormier Richard; her brother, Leslie Paul Richard; her nephew who was also her godchild, Kevin Anthony Richard; and her little dog and companion, Peppy.

Pallbearers will be Clint Credeur, David Credeur, Josh Credeur, Eric Nall, Gary Nall, and Steve McHan.
