Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial for Paul Terry Bertrand will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 1, 2021, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prairie Ronde, La.  Father Conley Bertrand will celebrate the Mass.  Rite of Committal will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prairie Ronde, La. (3650 Hwy. 104, Opelousas, LA 70570) from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.  Celebrating Resurrected Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the church.

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Paul Terry Bertrand, age 94, on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at the Savoy Care Center in Mamou, La.

Paul was a proud veteran of the United States Army and Merchant Marines.  He fought in the WWII and the Korean War.  Paul enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing.  He loved music and was very talented.  Paul enjoyed playing his banjo and listening to Bluegrass music.  Most of all, his family was his world.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his daughter, Paula Vicknair and husband, David; his brother, Father Conley Bertrand; his sister, Marie Dale Bertrand Robin and his grandchild, Wyatt Vicknair.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Meries Bertrand; his sister, Theresa "Tessie" Rozas and his brothers-in-law, Ray Robin and Arthur L. Rozas.

Pallbearers will be Cecil Rozas, Kent Rozas, Lynn Rozas, Tony Rozas, Wyatt Vicknair and Charles Robin.
