Raylin Chapman, Sr.

Leonville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Raylin James Chapman, Sr. at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 3, 2020, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Leonville.  Reverend Darren Eldridge will celebrate the Mass.  Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the St. Leo Catholic Church Mausoleum.

Mr. Chapman, age 74, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.

Raylin was an avid outdoorsman.  He loved hunting and camping with his family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his sons, Raylin James Chapman, Jr. and wife, Jessica and Donald Comeaux; his daughters, Monica Barrett and husband, Shannon, Michelle Pappillon and husband, Ronald, Tina Martel and husband, Dustin; his brothers, Gerald Chapman and wife, Linda, Lionel Chapman and wife, Barbara, Ricky Chapman and wife, Justine and his sisters, Vicky Chapman Savoy, Nettie Darbonne and husband, Luke and Barbara Lafleur.  He is also survived by ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death his wife, Myrna Chapman; his daughter, Katina Marcantel; his son, Chad Comeaux; his parents, Atenis Chapman and Helen P. Pitre; his grandchildren, Chase Poncho and Kyra Chapman and his sister, Geraldine Hebert.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2020, from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM in the Julius J. "Skip" Montet Chapel at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas.  A Rosary will be prayed on Wednesday evening at 6:00 PM in the funeral home.  Visitation will continue on Thursday, September 3, 2020 from 8:00 AM until 1:30 PM.

Pallbearers will be Donald Comeaux, Bailey Fontenot, Ricky Chapman, Mike Fontenot, Wayne Deville and Bubba Richard.  Honorary pallbearers will be Lionel Chapman and Shannon Barrett.
