Brent Ardoin lived a life defined by faith, family, hard work, and unwavering integrity. Born in Mamou, Louisiana, Brent was the kind of man whose actions spoke louder than his words. Though quiet and stoic by nature, his life told the story of a man who loved deeply, worked tirelessly, and gave selflessly to those around him. On August 28, 1971, he married the love of his life, Phyllis Adams Ardoin. For fifty-four years, they shared a beautiful marriage built on faith, friendship, loyalty, and unconditional love. To Phyllis, Brent was far more than her husband - he was her soulmate, her best friend, her constant companion, her favorite fishing buddy, and simply her everything. Together they built a home where love was steadfast, family always came first, and memories were made that will be cherished forever. Brent was the proud father of four children: Roderick Brent “Robie” Ardoin II (Angela), Daniel Ardoin (Desiree’), Cassie Hooks (Brad), and Rene “TJ” Ardoin (Jenny). As a father, he believed that love meant showing up, teaching right from wrong, and preparing his children to become responsible, hardworking adults. He was patient yet firm, sincere in every lesson he taught, and held high expectations - not out of strictness, but because he believed in the potential of each of his children. Their lives and accomplishments stand today as one of his greatest legacies. No title, however, brought Brent more joy than being "Paw Paw." His 10 grandchildren: Sydney Ardoin, Ethan Ardoin, Dallas Ardoin (Lacey), Judith Leigh Lanclos (Colby), Reed Ardoin, Maci Bergeron, Mason Hooks, Benjamin Hooks, Cameron Ardoin, and Chase Ardoin; and 6 great-grandchildren: Mitchell Ardoin, John-Reed Ardoin, Turner-Kate Ardoin, Jack-Dallas Ardoin, Wren Lanclos, and Bowen Lanclos; were the light of his life, and he embraced every opportunity to be part of their world. He was also survived by his brothers, Wayne Ardoin (Brun) and Keith Ardoin (Sabrina); and his sister, Linda Ardoin Lacobie (Bill); and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who he cherished dearly.
Whether cheering from the stands at a ballgame, spending a day fishing, lending advice, sharing laughter, or simply enjoying time together, he was always present. He celebrated their victories as if they were his own and loved each one beyond measure. His heart overflowed with pride, and there was never any doubt how deeply he cherished his family. To know Brent was to know someone you could always depend on. He was devoted, steadfast, reliable, loyal, and respected by everyone who knew him. His integrity was unquestionable, his word was trustworthy, and his willingness to help others knew no bounds. Family and friends often joked that there wasn't much Brent couldn't fix. Whether repairing an air conditioner during family trips to Grand Isle, solving a mechanical problem, or offering a helping hand, he was always willing to put his knowledge and talents to work for someone else. Brent found peace in the outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, spending time with his family, and creating simple moments that became lifelong memories. Though strong and capable, he possessed a gentle heart filled with generosity and compassion. He believed in doing things the right way, treating people with respect, and leading by example rather than by words.
After graduating from Melville High School in 1969, Brent answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the National Guard, where he proudly served for six years. His strong work ethic carried throughout his professional life. A gifted mechanic and natural leader, he worked for McDermott Engineering as a diesel mechanic, later for Nicholls Construction as a mechanic, and then with Artigues Construction, where he served as General Manager. He concluded his distinguished career at the Krotz Springs Refinery, retiring from Delek in 2013 as a Plant Operator. No matter the position he held, Brent earned the respect of his coworkers through his dedication, dependability, and willingness to do whatever was needed.
His faith remained an important part of his life as a longtime parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Krotz Springs. He believed in serving others, living with humility, and putting family above all else. Brent's life was not measured by accolades or possessions but by the countless lives he influenced through his example.
He leaves behind a family rooted in the values he instilled - hard work, honesty, faith, loyalty, and unconditional love. He was preceded in death by his parents, Avie Ardoin and Effie Guillory Ardoin.
His legacy lives on in his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and in everyone fortunate enough to have known him. Some people leave memories. Brent leaves a way of life. His strength, wisdom, quiet presence, and boundless love will continue to guide his family for generations to come. While his absence leaves an immeasurable void, his example will forever remain woven into the hearts of those he loved. Well done, good and faithful servant. (Matthew 25:23)
