Ronald Steve Vidrine

Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Ronald Steve Vidrine at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas.  Father Neil Pettit will celebrate the Mass.  Rite of Committal and internment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Park.

Visiting will begin on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas.  A Rosary will be prayed at 12:30 p.m.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald Steve Vidrine, age 81, on Monday, January 31, 2022, at Opelousas General Health System.

Steve retired after more than 30 years of education.  His last job was as supervisor of sciences with the St. Landry Parish School Board.  He coached girls' basketball and was also an assistant football coach.  He enjoyed being outdoors, shrimping, fishing, and cooking with his friends and family.  Steve was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rose Reed Vidrine; his daughters, Jennifer Vidrine Devilliers and Angela Vidrine Clay and his brother, Jerry Vidrine and wife, Mary.  He is also survived by three grandchildren, Trae Mayeux (Aubrie), Dustin Clay (Brandy) and Regan Mayeux (Claire) and six great-grandchildren, James Mayeux, Isla Mayeux, Grayson Clay, Isaiah Clay, Harper Mayeux and Jaydon Broussard.  He is also survived by his nephew, Mike Vidrine and his nieces, Belinda Hawks and Marla Gibson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ada Dupre Vidrine.

Pallbearers will be Keith Clay, Don Lloyd Leftwich, Clem Zerangue, Mike Vidrine, Kelly Mayeux, Regan Mayeux, Trae Mayeux and Dustin Clay.
