Rose Arnaud Lanclos, a beloved and devoted member of her community, passed away on April 21, 2026, at Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas, LA, at the age of 95. Born on February 5, 1931, in Leonville, LA, she led a life marked by determination, warmth, and a deep commitment to those around her.
For over 24 years, Rose worked as a middle school cafeteria worker and cook, where she was appreciated for her skill, kindness, hard work, and unwavering dedication. An accomplished Cajun cook, she infused her culinary talents into every meal she prepared throughout her career and found great satisfaction in her work. Rose will be remembered not only for her great cooking and commitment to her work but also for her caring nature, strong faith, and the ways she touched the lives around her. She leaves a legacy of devotion, generosity, and fierce love that will endure in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Beyond her professional life, Rose found great joy in spending time with her family and nurturing her loved ones through her love of cooking, sewing, and tending to her vegetable gardens and flowers. She enjoyed reading a good book in her quiet moments and always emphasized the importance of education. In fact, she returned to school later in life to achieve and complete her GED diploma, of which she was very proud.
Her spirituality was a cornerstone of her life. She was a devout Catholic and a longtime parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church where she was a member of the Ladies' Altar Society for a time. She also belonged to the Bellevue Rosary group for several years. She lived her faith, embodying the values she held dear. Her life stands as a testament to the power of kindness, faith, and the simple joy found in the everyday acts of care.
Rose’s life was deeply enriched by her beloved family. She is survived by her two daughters, Pat Nix (Ken), of Jacksonville, FL; and Dianne Mannear of Baton Rouge; her son, Mike Lanclos (Linda) of Lafayette; daughter-in-law, Robin Lanclos of Baton Rouge, as well as 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren She is also survived by two sisters, Nora Arnaud Guidry of Opelousas and Judy Stelly Thibodeaux of Arnaudville.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Nathan Lanclos, with whom she shared a loving and happy marriage of 52 years; her son, Gerald Lanclos; great-granddaughter, Kalie Mae Chambers; and four sisters, Altha Arnaud Richard, Florence Stelly Marks, Mary Helen Stelly Stout, and Genevieve Stelly Knott.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, from 6:00 pm -8:00 pm in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. Rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm in the funeral home by Deacon Barney Lejeune.
Visitation will continue on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 8:00 am to 10:00 am in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas followed by a Eulogy service at 10:00 a.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas. The Very Reverend Monsignor Keith J. DeRouen will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and Burial will be held in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas immediately following the Mass.
Rose will remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered. May her memory be a blessing.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care, 426 Heather Drive, Opelousas, LA, 70570.
