Roswitha Becker Soileau

April 12, 1943 – June 7, 2026

Funeral Services will be celebrated for Roswitha Becker Soileau, age 83, at 11:30 am on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. Deacon Mitch Hebert will officiate the service. Rite of Committal will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Soileau, a native of Germany and resident of Washington, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2026. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and a friend to many. She had a gift for decorating and took great pride in keeping a beautifully clean home. Among her favorite pastimes were her trips home to Germany, where she enjoyed spending time with her beloved brothers and family, as well as taking car rides, listening to music, watching movies and trying her luck at the casino.

Above all, her family remained the center of her life, and she loved them dearly. Her memory will be treasured, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Rose is survived by her three daughters, Manuela Soileau (Ron) of Washington, Patsy Hargroder (Chad) of Opelousas, and Brenda Soileau (Randall) of Lafayette; one son, Tommy Soileau of Washington; five grandchildren, Dustin Hebert (Annie), Megan Graham (Lo), Christopher Hargroder (Kelie), Krysten Cannatella (Vincent) and Amanda Sylvester (Glenn); and five great-grandchildren, Ryan Hargroder, Remy Cannatella, Piper Hargroder, Audrey Hebert and Levi Cannatella.

She is also survived by her sister Lieselotte Guillory, and four brothers, Elmer Fischer, Walter Fischer, Roland Fischer and Thomas Fischer. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Herman Joseph Soileau; her parents, Heinrich and Franziska Becker. Pallbearers will be Christopher Hargroder, Dustin Hebert, Glenn Istre, Jason Thibodeaux, Jeff Soileau, and Tony Soileau. Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning on Thursday, June 11, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A Rosary will be recited at 11:00 a.m. by Norma Guillory and Betty Stelly.
