Scotty J. Soileau, a beloved member of the Opelousas, Louisiana community, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at the age of 65. Born on July 14, 1960, in Opelousas, he dedicated his life to his family, friends, and a career that touched the lives of many.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Scotty J. Soileau will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, La. Father Neil Pettit will celebrate the Mass.

Visitation will begin on Thursday, January 8, 2026, in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning at 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening and the funeral home will reopen on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Josh Soileau, Brook Soileau, Craig Smith, Jerry (Jay) Deville, Michael Deville and Christopher “Chris” Fontenot.

Scotty was the owner and operator of Soileau's Dinner Club in Opelousas where he cultivated a reputation for not only serving delicious meals but also for crafting memorable experiences for his patrons. His culinary talents were a source of pride, as he enjoyed cooking for family and friends alike, merging his passion with his profession. He was honored to receive the Restaurateurs of the Year Award in 2017, an accolade that celebrated his dedication to the culinary arts. That same year, he was inducted into The Restaurant Hall of Fame and was recognized in 2019 with The True Ambassador Award, each milestone underscoring the impact he made in the industry.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Scotty cherished the moments spent in the great outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing, often hanging out with the “guys” at the family camp. A huge supporter of his favorite teams, The New Orleans Saints and the LSU Tigers, he took great joy in rooting for them passionately.

Above all, Scotty was a family man. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Beth Soileau, of Opelousas, La.; his sons, Brook Soileau and his wife, Naomi Dekerlegand Soileau, of Pineville, La. and Joshua Soileau and fiancé, Paige Picard, of Opelousas, La. He is also survived by his sisters, Judy (Soileau) Fontenot and husband, Francis, of Lafayette, La., and Christine Soileau of Lafayette, Louisiana. His legacy continues through his five grandchildren, Bailey Soileau, Isabella Soileau, Peyton Soileau, Aubree Graves, and Caden Graves, who brought him immense joy.

Scotty was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Soileau and Mabel Veillon Soileau, as well as his sister, Jo Ann (Soileau) Landry.

While he will be deeply missed, the memories he created will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him. In our remembrance of a kind and engaging spirit, we celebrate the life of Scotty J. Soileau, whose legacy of love, laughter, and culinary excellence will resonate for years to come.
