Shane Michael Stelly, born on August 17, 1972, in Boutte, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026. He was a devoted family man, a dedicated professional, and a person whose warmth and generosity left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Shane Michael Stelly, age 53, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington, La. Father Corey Campeaux will Celebrate the Mass. A Rite of Committal and Burial will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington.
Pallbearers will be Tristan Bordelon, Craig Stelly, C. J. Stelly, Tony Stelly, Brett Stelly, Charlie Stelly, Jacob Sebastien and Dustin Sebastien. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Sebastien and Kenneth Wyble.
Visitation for Shane will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas from 9:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Shane was a multi-talented and dedicated workman, where his skill and commitment were well respected. He was an avid outdoorsman who cherished hunting and woodworking, hobbies that brought him both joy and a sense of peace. His love for the outdoors was matched by his playful spirit, full of fun and laughter, which endeared him to family and friends alike.
One of Shane’s greatest pleasures was spending quality time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. He was also deeply connected to his first cousins and loved gathering with them. Shane was known for his willingness to lend a helping hand, always ready to support others with kindness and generosity. He was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington, Louisiana. His proudest accomplishments included coaching his son Kaleb's baseball team, a role that allowed him to share his passion for sports and mentorship.
Shane is survived by his son, Kaleb Stelly, and wife, Madison, of Lebeau; his daughter, Shelby Stelly Bordelon, and husband, Tristan, of Plaucheville; his parents, Jeffery and Betty Morain Stelly of Lebeau; his brother, Jeffery “Jeff” James Stelly, II, and wife Mary of Augusta, Maine; his sister, Cathy Sebastien, and husband, Billy, of Washington and his grandchildren, Makayla, Easton, Greyson, and Dalton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sheila Smith Stelly, his maternal grandparents, Hilda Leblanc Morain and Charles Morain and his paternal grandparents, Easton Stelly and Emma Landry Stelly.
Shane Michael Stelly’s life was marked by his steadfast loyalty to his family, his faith, and his community. Those who knew him will remember his generous spirit, his infectious laughter, and the warmth with which he embraced life. He will be profoundly missed but lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
