Opelousas-Shearon Niles Dupre, age 76, passed away on June 20, 2024, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas, LA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Father Jude Thierry will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas, LA.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 7, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas. A Rosary service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday evening in the funeral home. On Monday, July 8, 2024, visitation will continue from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
Born on January 4, 1948, in Opelousas, Louisiana. Shearon led a fulfilling life surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was an avid fisherman who found solace in the outdoors and being on the water. He enjoyed camping at Cajun Campground and Lakeview Gator Grounds where he enjoyed moments of peace and contentment. Shearon had a talent for music as he played the drums and was part of notable bands like the Willie D. Band and other local musical groups. Additionally, his love for BBQ and cooking brought joy to many gatherings and celebrations.
He was a dedicated machine operator for St. Landry Solid Waste Management for 28 years. He was not only known for his work but also for his vibrant personality and varied interests.
Shearon will be deeply missed by all who knew him, especially his beloved wife of 52 years, Shirley Hollier Dupre of Opelousas; his daughter, Nicole Renee Dupre and companion, Bradley “Brad” Vincent of Opelousas; his brother, Daniel "Danny" Dupre and wife, Cindy of Baton Rouge; sisters, Janice Fontenot and companion, Dave Kidder of Arnaudville; Gwen Brandon of Canyon Lake, Texas; and Vicky Leleux and husband, Jerry of Opelousas; his grandchildren, Landon Brown, Kirsten Vincent, and Cole Vincent; one great-grandchild, Carson Stanford, and one great-grandchild on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Seldon Dupre and Theresa Pitre Dupre; and one brother-in-law, Gene Brandon.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Brown, Cole Vincent, Brad Vincent, Danny Dupre, Donald Brown, Seth Richard, Landon Brown and Timmy Bourque.
His passing leaves a void in the hearts of many, but his memory will live on through the cherished moments shared with family and friends. Shearon's legacy of kindness, love for nature, and musical talents will forever be treasured. May Shearon Niles Dupre's soul rest in eternal peace as we hold onto the precious memories, he has gifted us with throughout his remarkable life.
