Sheridan Kate Sylvester was born on July 17, 1944, in Alexandria, Louisiana. She passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, in Washington, Louisiana.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Greenwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Pineville, Louisiana. Reverend Laurent De Prins will conduct the service.
Pallbearers will be Will Woods, Edward Sylvester and Wiley Woods.
Throughout her life, Sheridan dedicated her life to her craft as a hay farmer. Her connection to the land was profound, reflected not only in her work but also in her deep affection for animals, particularly her cherished horses. She took great joy in tending to her horses, a pastime that showcased her nurturing spirit and her passion for all living creatures.
Sheridan was a devoted member of her family, and her warmth has left an indelible mark on those lucky enough to know her. She is survived by her sisters, Patricia S. Woods and Dixie Bunton Ferrata. Additionally, she is remembered fondly by her nieces and nephews: Edward Sylvester and wife, Keri; Christina Woods; Jeffery Sylvester and his wife, Aimee; Jennifer Sylvester and her husband, Jabra; and William Woods, Sr. and his wife, Erica, along with nine great-nieces and nephews who will continue to keep her spirit alive in their hearts.
Sheridan was preceded in death by her loving parents, Robert B. Sylvester and Irma Grace Dixon Sylvester; her brother, Robert D. Sylvester; and her sister, Willie Judith Sylvester. Their memories undoubtedly shaped her life, and they will be missed.
As we reflect on Sheridan's life, we remember a remarkable woman whose love for farming and animals defined her, and whose commitment to family made her a cherished sister and aunt. Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
