Steve Polotzola, Jr., a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away at his residence in Bayou Current on September 26, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on July 23, 1956, Steve touched the lives of many throughout his years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at St. John Catholic Church of Melville. Father Stephen C. Ugwu will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the St. John Catholic Cemetery in Melville.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, At Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Melville. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Visitation will continue at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, until 11:30 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Chris Polotzola, Ryan Polotzola, Hayden Walker, Layton Walker, Denny Polotzola, and Johnnie Kimble.
Steve is remembered fondly for his love of classic cars and his enthusiasm for watching live car races. He enjoyed spending his days surrounded by family, running equipment, cutting grass on his tractor, and tackling various projects in his shed. Steve was a dedicated member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local No. 406 for over 25 years and worked diligently in the plants. He was also a longtime parishioner of St. John Catholic Church of Melville.
Steve is survived by his wife of 45 years, Charlene Kimble Polotzola of Bayou Current; his two sons, Ryan Polotzola and his wife Halli of Garland, and Christopher Polotzola and his wife, Jessica of Bayou Current; his grandchildren, Emily, Kate, Hayden, Layton, Paisley, and Emersyn; his brothers, Xavier Donald Polotzola and his wife, Theresa of Bayou Current, and Carl Joseph Polotzola and his wife, Barbara of Brusly; his sister-in-law, Juanita Polotzola of Lettsworth; and a host of extended family, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Steve Polotzola and Lucy Clark Polotzola; his brother, Anthony "Man" Polotzola, his father-in-law, Charlie Kimble; and his mother-in-law, Jeanette Couvillion Kimble.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
