Sybil "Joyce" Ganson Goudeau, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2023. She was born in Woodside, Louisiana on September 18, 1929, to Lindon Leroy Ganson and Emma Baham Ganson. 

On September 20, 2023, we will gather at the Skip Montet Chapel at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas to pay our respects and celebrate Joyce's remarkable life. The visitation will begin at 9:00 AM followed by the funeral service at 12:00 PM.  We will then proceed with a burial ceremony in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, La. 

Pallbearers will be: Joshua Goudeau, Lindon Goudeau, Daniel Goudeau, Seth Guillory, David “Doogie” Devillier, II and Jon Paul Landry.

Sybil, fondly known as Joyce to her family and friends, lived a life full of laughter and love. Her infectious sense of humor brought joy to those around her, and she cherished every opportunity to make people smile.

A devout Christian, Joyce found solace in serving the Lord and attending church. Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she took pleasure in giving generously to missions. Joyce's dedication to her beliefs was an inspiration to all who knew her. 

Family meant the world to Joyce. She adored babysitting her grandchildren and treasured the time she spent with them. Whether it was playing games or sharing stories, she created lasting memories that will be cherished by her loved ones forever. Joyce also had a green thumb and found peace working in her flower garden. Tending to her plants brought her a sense of tranquility that mirrored the love she had for her family and friends. 

Joyce leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to live on through her surviving family members. She is survived by her son, Richard Gantt Goudeau and his wife, Carol Ann, her son, Dylan Seymour Goudeau and his wife Carol, her daughter, Pauline Guillory and her husband, Glenn, her daughter Alisa Devillier, her grandchildren: Joshua Goudeau and his wife, Jasmin, Mandy Goudeau Landry and her husband, Jon Paul, Lindon Goudeau, Daniel Goudeau and his wife, Lissa, Crystal Browning, David "Doogie" Devillier, II, Wyatt Devillier,  Ben Guillory and his wife, Kyia, Seth Guillory, Simone Guillory, as well as great-grandchildren, Alyvia Goudeau, Reid Goudeau, Emily Goudeau, Addie Joy Landry, Raymie Landry, Remmi Grace Devillier, Keller Guillory, Marnell Guillory and her great-great-grandchildren, Jayden, and Acelynn. 

Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, Seymour Richard Goudeau; her daughter, Pamela Ann Goudeau; her parents, Lindon Leroy Ganson and Emma Baham Ganson; seven brothers; two sisters; and her son-in-law, David Devillier.

Joyce's memory will forever remain in our hearts as we cherish the moments spent with her. She was a beacon of light in our lives whose spirit will continue to guide us. As we say goodbye to Joyce in this physical form, let us remember the love she shared with us all. May she rest in eternal peace.
