Opelousas - It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ted Joseph Arceneaux, age 67, announce his death on Thursday, August 5, 2021.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA. The Reverend Gregory Simien will celebrate the Mass.
Ted was known by many names. He was fondly called Mr. Ted, Uncle Ted, Thaddeus, Teddy Bear, Ted Fred the Cornbread Head, but the names he was most proud of were Daddy and Papa. Ted was known by so many for not only his fun-loving spirit, but also for his work ethic. Ted owned Arceneaux Floor Installation for many years and worked across the state, spending much of his time working in Houma, LA. When Ted wasn’t laying flooring, raising kids – and maybe raising a little hell – he could be found playing horseshoes, hunting, fishing, traveling with his wife Paula, sitting outside flipping through the channels on TV and listening to classic country music.
Ted will probably best be remembered for the way he could make people laugh and for his love of family and togetherness. Ted’s life was one well-lived and he showed others how to have a good time. He was the life of the party, but also often the one throwing the party for anyone who wanted to join; a great collector of stories and an excellent storyteller; the one stirring the pot and making sure no one left hungry.
Ted will be dearly missed, and his memory will always be cherished by his loving wife of 44 years, his children, grandchildren, and all who loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Paula Hollier Arceneaux; his sons, Chet Joseph Arceneaux and wife, Christine Reed Arceneaux, Dane Matthew Arceneaux and wife, Lexi Darbonne Arceneaux; his daughters, Skyla Arceneaux Lachney and husband, Donald Lachney; Sunshine Arceneaux Little and husband, Mark Little; his brothers, Charles Arceneaux and wife, Jane, Donald Arceneaux and wife, Pam, Wayne Arceneaux and wife, Gayle; his sisters, Lois Fontenot, Bernadine Comeaux and husband, Roy, Margaret Timmons and husband, Johnny and Cathy Carriere and husband, Murphy, Jr. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, Cicely Little, Blair Little, Jenna Little, Scarlett Little, Meredith Little, Sloane Arceneaux, James Arceneaux, Henry Arceneaux, Bella Arceneaux, Arden Arceneaux, Elliot Arceneaux, Gabriel Lachney, Denay Lachney and Alec Lachney.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Ferdie Arceneaux, Sr., and Ella Marie Fontenot Arceneaux and his brothers, Danny Arceneaux and Francis Ferdie Arceneaux, Jr.
