Tressie L. Fontenot

Opelousas - Funeral services will be held for Tressie L. Fontenot at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 18, 2022, in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas.  Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, La.

Visitation will be held in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Friday, February 18, 2022, at 8:30 a.m.  A rosary will be prayed at 1:30 p.m. with service to follow.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tressie L. Fontenot, age 79, on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Opelousas General Health System.

Tressie loved having a house full of family.  She was a wonderful cook and loved cooking pork roast, meatball stew, gumbo, and crawfish etouffee.  Her faith was very important to her.  She prayed her Rosary every day and was a long-time member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington.  Tressie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Buggar Fontenot of Washington, La.; her three children, Teddy Fontenot (Darlene), Lorri Vidrine (Terry) and Michelle Stewart (Butch); her five grandchildren, Kristy Reynolds (Jimmy), Cory Fontenot (Mandy) Halie Vidrine (Cody), Brandon Vidrine and Alex Vidrine and her seven great-grandchildren, Avery, Rory and Emry Reynolds, Hunter, Eli and Ronan Fontenot and Chance Rabalais.

She was preceded in death by parents, brothers, and a sister.

Pallbearers will be Brandon, Alex, Jimmy, Avery, Cory, and Hunter.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the doctors and nurses in the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Room at Opelousas General Health System for their amazing care.
