Valerie Delafosse

Washington - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Valerie Marie Meche Delafosse on Friday, September 28, 2018, at 11:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Reverend Matthew Higginbotham will officiate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, LA.

Mrs. Delafosse, age 78, a resident of Washington, LA, passed away on Monday, September 24, 2018, at Opelousas General Health System.

Valerie was a loving wife, mom and grandmother. She was a member of the St. Agnes Rosary Group. She loved sewing, cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Valerie will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Jerry Delafosse; her son, Ronny Delafosse (Debbie); her grandchildren, Jarred Delafosse (Tiffany); Jamie Delafosse Ward (Rob); Logan Delafosse (Theresa); Lane Delafosse; Shea Gauthier (Nicole) and her great-grandchildren, Cameron Eastep, Lilly Stein, Noah D'Albor, Jaxun Schweinefus and Adalyn Schweinefus.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Etienne Meche and Vernice Menard Meche and her daughter, Lisa Marie Delafosse Formeller.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2018, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will reopen on Friday, September 28, 2018, at 8:00 AM until time of service. A Rosary will be prayed on Thursday evening at 7:00 PM.
