Verna Faul O'Pry

Opelousas – Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2019 for Verna Faul O’Pry in the Skip Montet Chapel at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas. Deacon Ulysses Joubert will officiate the services. Rite of Committal will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home on Friday, October 4, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. A Rosary will be prayed at 1:30 p.m. by Deacon Ulysses Joubert.

Verna Faul O’Pry, age 89 and a resident of Opelousas, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2019 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home.

Verna worked as an LPN for many years at Opelousas General Health Systems and at a local OB/GYN office. She loved reading, baking and she was known for her bargain shopping. Verna enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a loving mother and grandmother, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy O’Pry Sosa; brother, Carlton Faul and his wife, Ethel; grandchildren, Joseph Sosa, Julie Balhoff and her husband, Matthew, Jennifer Vidrine and her husband, Casey, Josie Pitre and Justin O’Pry; great-grandchildren, Parker, Hannah, Elizabeth, Sophie, Christian and Blakely; and great-great-grandchildren, Bailee and Alyiah.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ezoide and Aline Richard Faul; son, Michael O’Pry; father of her children, Joseph Melvin O’Pry; sisters, Mary Hollier and her husband, Robert and Verna Walsh and her husband, Hugh; nephew, Carl Faul; and nieces, Peggy Miles, Claire D. Bourque and Christie Campbell Bergeron.
