Wilbert Mcknight, Sr.

Funeral services for Wilbert McKnight, Sr. will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 3, 2018 at the New Pilgrim Baptist Church, 132 Guidry Rd, Palmetto, LA, 71358. Visiting will begin at 9:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will be take place in the church cemetery.

Mr. McKnight, age 84, who was a lifelong resident of Palmetto, LA, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at his residence.

Survivors include his 13 children, Willie Mae Romar and husband Dane, Wilbert McKnight, Jr. and wife Bernadine, Paul McKnight and wife Priscilla, Geneva McKnight, Lubertha Montgomery and husband Terry, Judy Isles and husband Darrel, Charles McKnight and wife Renee, Dale M. Cheney and husband William, Nancy Curette and husband Jeff, Shirley McKnight, Nora Brown and husband Edward, Sheila Douglas and husband Ronald and Shanda Mazone; his sisters, Verta Mar and Marie Scott; 32 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Wilbert is preceded in death by the love of his life, Cornelius Mazon McKnight; his parents, Elijah and Julia Brown McKnight; daughter, Burnella Rideau and son, Troy McKnight.

To Mr. McKnight's dear daughter-in-law, a special thank you for caring for him and being his right hand in his times of need.

Giving flowers as flowers are due. We want to let our sister, Dale Cheney know that we appreciate all the late nights, early mornings, mid days, rainy days, sunny days, cloudy days, good days and bad days taken from her understanding husband William Cheney to take care of our Daddy. We appreciate the both of you. Our hats are off to you.
