Betty Anne Dartez Cormier

Krotz Springs - Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 8, 2019 for Betty Anne Dartez Cormier at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Krotz Springs. Father Michael DeBlanc will officiate the services. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Cormier, age 73 and resident of Krotz Springs, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at Opelousas General Health Systems.

Betty was a devout Catholic and a long-time parishioner of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Krotz Springs. Betty was the owner and operator of "Betty's Tax Service" for 36 years. She was President of Louisiana State Foster Care Association, which she was very passionate about. Betty was also a member of the Cajun Roadrunners Group that she loved to travel with. She was a regular attendee of Wednesday sit and sews at Fabric & Sewing Shop in Opelousas, Brambleberry Lane. She enjoyed camping and cooking. Every year, Betty looked forward to hosting the annual Good Friday Crawfish Boil. Betty was a big hearted, fun loving person, who enriched every life she touched. Above all, her family was the center of her life and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Raywood "Calhoun" Joseph Cormier of Krotz Springs; sons, Ryan Jude Cormier and Ashley Jude Cormier, both of Lafayette; daughter, Trisha Ortego (Ronald) of Krotz Springs; brothers, John Earl "Snow" Dartez (Judy) of Kaplan and Floyd Dartez (Patty) of Lafayette; sisters, Janet Landry, Alice McClousky and Ann Meaux (Randy) all of Kaplan; grandchildren, Adam Ortego (Jessie) Katelyn Ortego Richard (Jacob), Tyler Ortego, Taylor Ortego (Kelli), Abigail Cormier, Magdalene Cormier, Gabriella Cormier and Avery Cormier; and great-grandchildren, Levi Richard, Mason Ortego and Ryleigh Ortego.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pierre and Marie Mire Dartez; brothers, Donald Dartez and Douglas Dartez, parents-in-law, Eno and Sadie Cormier; brother-in-law, Lurcey Landry; and sister-in-law, Peggy Dartez.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday evening. Visitation will continue on Sunday, September 8, 2019 from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Cormier, Ashley Cormier, Ronald Ortego, Adam Ortego, Tyler Ortego and Taylor Ortego. Honorary Pallbearer will be Avery Cormier.
