David "Magoo" Bertrand Lacassin

Obituary

Krotz Springs-A Celebration of Life service for David Bertrand Lacassin, known to many as “Magoo,” will be held at a later date.

Magoo was a native of Krotz Springs, past resident of St. Gabriel for many years, and was currently residing in Krotz Springs for the past 5 years.  He passed away on Friday, December 25, 2020, at his home surrounded by family, at the age of 71.  He was a retired carpenter where he worked for Turner Industries at the Williams Olefiens Plant in Geismar, LA, for many years.  He was a member of the Carpenter’s Local Union No. 1028.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served his country during the Vietnam War.  Past Commander and member of the American Legion Post in Krotz Springs.

He enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing, and cooking.  He also enjoyed his time telling jokes, cooking, and hanging out with his friends and family.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his stepson, Charles Cunningham and wife, Rikki Dee of Gonzales; stepdaughter, Laura Johnson and husband, David of Bossier City; one brother, Gerard Lacassin and wife, Maryann of Krotz Springs; three sisters, Marie Audrey Halphen of Krotz Springs; Mary Acklin Doucette of Vinton (who was also his godmother); and Mary Margaret Credeur and husband, Andrus "Junior" of Bridge City, TX; sister-in-law, Jane Lacassin of Krotz Springs; step grandchildren: Brittany Johnson, Ashley Johnson, Haleigh Johnson, Hagan Mistric Evans, Kade Mistric, Gabi Mistric, Cory David Cunningham, and Cody Charles Cunningham; step great-grandchildren: Makynlee, Sophie, Camilla, and Jada; and a host of nieces and nephews that he loved like his own children.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Lacassin and Elmire Angelle Lacassin; his brothers, James Grady Lacassin, Louis Lacassin, Jr.; Glenn Lacassin, Harold Lacassin, Johnnie Lacassin, Arthur Douglas Lacassin, and Alfred Lacassin; and his brothers-in-law, Charlie Halphen and Charles Doucette.
