Harold Richard

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Harold Richard at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at St. Landry Catholic Church.  Rite of Committal will take place at the St. Landry Catholic Church Mausoleum.  Monsignor Russell Harrington will celebrate the Mass.

Mr. Richard, age 91, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.

Harold was a loving, husband, father and grandfather.  He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force.  Harold was employed with Marcann Advertising Company for over 40 years.  After his retirement with Marcann, he worked for Dimmicks Auto Parts and the Bank of Sunset where he was named Employee of the Year.  He also served as a volunteer for the Lawtell Fire Department.  Harold enjoyed listening to music, grilling and was an inventor of many different gadgets.  He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by wife of 35 years, Christel Helmstetter Richard; his son, D. Rickey Richard and wife, Kathy; his daughters, Christine Richard and husband, Timothy and Caroline Bonin and husband, Ricky and his sisters, Clara Young and Madgeline Lyons.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Dustin Richard, Daniel Richard, Shelly Toussaint, Kristin Richard, Sarah Bonilla, Robert Howerter, and twelve great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel Woodson Richard; his parents, Perry and Delphine Richard; his brothers, Leroy Richard, Jules Richard and his sisters, Dorothy Cormier and Terradene Thibodeaux.

Pallbearers will be Dustin Richard, Daniel Richard, Robert Howerter, Andrew Zavala, Timothy Richard and Jake Thibodeaux.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary being prayed at 6:30 p.m.  Visitation will continue on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, from 8:00 a.m. until time of service in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas.
