Funeral services will be held for Homer Ray "Tooty" Richard at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, January 18, 2021, at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. Deacon Dwayne Joubert will officiate the religious service. Rite of Committal will take place in St. Landry Catholic Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home until time of the service. A rosary will be prayed on Monday, January 18, 2021 at 1:30 P.M.
Homer Ray "Tooty" Richard, age 91, passed away on January 15, 2021 in his residence surrounded by his family. He served his country in the U S Navy and was a self-employed truck driver. After retiring he bought a few head of cattle which multiplied into many more. Beside his family, the cattle soon became his pride and joy taking him outside for much of the day. He loved walking his pastures with the cattle following him on a daily basic lasting for many years.
"Tooty" is survived by his loving wife, Nora of 70 years, his 5 children, Kathleen Taylor, Michael Richard (Susan), Pam Ozenne (Billy), Glenn Richard (Susie) and Joanne Briley (Butch); 13 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homere and Alice Richard; and 7 siblings; and son in law, Kenny Taylor.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Richard, Brent Ozenne, Jeremy Richard, Scott Briley, Joey Briley and Derek Briley. Honorary pallbearer will be C.J. Briley
