Memorial services have been scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at the First Baptist Church of Opelousas. Visitation will be held in the First Baptist Church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m.
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of John Gilven Savoie, age 21, on Friday, May 20, 2022, at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge.
John had a smile that could light up the entire room. He enjoyed fishing and watching cartoons. He loved visiting with his family and wearing his sunglasses. One of his favorite times was when he would go to summer camp with the Lions Club. John's big heart will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his father, Leonard Savoie (and friend Penny Bernard); grandparent, John Albert Daigle; sister, Brittany Nicole Savoie; Godfather, Josh Savoie; Godmother and aunt, Kristi Hammond; uncles, Karl Savoie, Mark Savoie, David Carl Guidry and Kevin Hammond; aunts, Karen Courville, Stephanie Daigle and Lynn Savoie; and numerous beloved cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Karen Savoie; grandparents, Rose Foster Daigle, Leon G. Savoie and Beverly B. Savoie; great-grandparents, Preston and Louise Foster and Sidney and Jeanne Briley and Eldridge and Hilda Savoie; and uncle, Keith Daigle.
In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations to defray the costs of the funeral John's name.
The Savoie family would like to extend special thanks to John's nurse, Debra Fontenot and caretaker, Charlene Antoine along with his many healthcare providers who assisted them for their wonderful care which was given to John during his illness.
