Mallet - Funeral services for Joseph C. Darbonne will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2019, in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel in Opelousas.  Reverend Father Austin Leger will conduct the services.  Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the St. Ann Cemetery in Mallet.

Mr. Darbonne, age 82, was a native of Mallet and a longtime resident of Opelousas.  He passed away on Monday, November 11, 2019, at Opelousas General Health System.   He was a farmer for many years and enjoyed tending to his farm animals.  He enjoyed working making syrup in his syrup mill for several years.  As a pastime he would attend antique auctions. He cherished spending time with his family and friends.   He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his sisters, Martha D. Daigle and her husband, Kirby Daigle of Prairie Ronde; nephew, Nicholas Daigle of New Orleans; niece, Gina Daigle Rodrigue and husband, Jason Rodrigue of Lafayette; and four great nieces, Lillian, Ava Grace, Rowan, and Lilah Rodrigue.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix Darbonne and Marie Glannis Gatte Darbonne.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas.  On Thursday, visitation will continue from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.  A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m. in funeral home.

Pallbearers will Nicholas Daigle, Jason Rodrigue, Kirby Daigle, John Speight, Donnie Leger, and Robbie Soileau.
