It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Lisa Anne Gaines announces her passing on Friday, December 17, 2021, at her residence after an extended illness. She was 65 years old.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA. The Very Reverend Monsignor Keith DeRouen will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park cemetery.
The family will receive guests at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home on Monday, December 20, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will reopen on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time. A rosary will be held on Monday evening at 6:00 p.m.
Lisa had a love for all animals, especially redbirds and hummingbirds. Every Friday night, she loved playing Scrabble. She enjoyed the outdoors, growing and tending to her flowers. Lisa never met a stranger and was loved by all who met her. She was a devoted mother, not only to her own children, but to every child she met.
Lisa is survived by her son, Jonathan Burleigh (Landon Price); daughter, Holly Wyble (Jordan); her fur baby, Gabby; granddaughter, Breanna Wyble; brothers, David Gaines (Vickie), Freddy Gaines, and Donald Gaines (Dora); sisters, Donna Sibille, Mary Purvis and Pam Vidrine (Gary); son-in-law, Richard Burleigh; nieces, Laura Gaines, and Ashley Purvis.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul David Gaines, and Mildred Gloria Trosclair Gaines; her son, Christopher Burleigh; her niece, Katelyn Zimmerman; nephew, Joshua Gaines and brother-in-law, Tim Sibille.
Those honored to be Lisa's pallbearers are David Gaines, Freddie Gaines, Donald Gaines, Richard Fontenot, Richard Burleigh, and Bobby Gautreaux. Honorary pallbearer will be Gary Vidrine.
Lisa's family would like to express a special thank you to her lifelong friend, Kim Gautreaux and her family; the staff of Louisiana Hospice, especially nurses, Tyler Redmond, Christine Johnson, and Kimmie Bordelon; the staff of Ochsner Lafayette, especially Lisa's lifelong friend, Cathy Carriere.
