It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Mrs. Lou Ify Bennett, age 77, on Friday, December 10, 2021, at her residence.

Lou was an excellent demonstration of faith in her family and especially in her community. No one can deny the fact that she was devout in her Catholic faith. Neither does anyone deny the fact Mrs. Lou was a faithful individual; her love and care for the Church was marvelous; her commitment and dedication in helping the Church was extraordinary; her faithfulness and collaboration was second to none. Lou was involved in all areas at St. Anthony Catholic Church. She was a lector, an extraordinary minister, a member of the Ladies Altar Society and especially good at being a religious educator and director of the religious education (DRE) program at the Church. For many years, if not most of her life, she was actively involved in her church. Anything the Church needed, from cooking, coordinating and cleaning, Lou was always there. She always went the extra mile to bring goodness to the Church and community. With her eagerness to care for children, her dedication and faith will be passed on for many generations.

When she wasn't involved in the activities of the Church, you might find Lou enjoying a peaceful day fishing on the lake. While her children were in school, she volunteered her time and talents at Krotz Springs Elementary School and Port Barre High School.

Along with being an exemplary woman of faith, she was also an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with her family, especially cooking Sunday dinners and baking birthday cakes. She will be deeply missed by her loved ones and church family.

In her later years, she always welcomed people and spread joy through her generous hugs and kisses.

She is survived by her husband, Sidney M. Bennett of 60 years; her son, Swain M. Bennett and his wife, Crystal; her daughters, Damie Bennett Mobile and her husband, Brent; and Heidi Bennett Martinez and her husband, Gerard, all of Krotz Springs; her sisters, Verdella Prejean, of Livonia; and Violet "Nue" Jordan and her husband, Charlie; her sisters-in-law, Patricia "Patsy" Nall LeBlanc; Grace Bryson; and Brenda Gale Manuel and her husband, Granville; her grandchildren, Dustin Mobile and his wife Julie, Brittany Doucet and her husband Johnny, Hailey Martinez (Luke), Alec Martinez, Reagan Martinez, Nathan Martinez, Seth Bennett and Ethan Bennett; her great-grandchildren, Tucker and Jaxon Mobile; Owen, Benson and Adelyn Doucet; and a host of other nephews, nieces and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ashton LeBlanc and Viola Dupre LeBlanc; her brother, Ray Allen LeBlanc; father and mother-in-law, David G. Bennett and Ida Guidry Bennett; her sister-in-law, Bertha Lee Lanclos and her husband, Collins; and brother-in-law, Bill Bryson.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Seth Bennett, Ethan Bennett, Alec Martinez, Nathan Martinez, Dustin Mobile and Tucker Mobile.

Gift Bearers will be her granddaughters, Brittany Doucet, Hailey Martinez and Reagan Martinez.
