Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Lucien Joseph Lipari at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2021, at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas. The Very Reverend Monsignor Keith J. DeRouen will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and burial will follow at the Monsignor Louis Melancon Mausoleum in Opelousas.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021, from 8:30 a.m. until service time. A Rosary will be recited at 10:15 a.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas by Deacon Bill Pollingue.
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Mr. Lucien Joseph Lipari, age 88, on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at his residence.
Lucien served his country proudly in the United States Army. He was a graduate of SLI and earned his master's degree in Education at USL. He retired after teaching 26 years at Opelousas High School. Lucien was a board member for the Orphan Train Society and was an honorary lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus (Council 1173). He loved reading and was an avid LSU football fan. Lucien was a loving husband, father, brother and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
Lucien is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Gast Lipari; his son, Joey Lipari and wife, Kimberly and his brother, Charles Lipari and wife, Alice; his sister-in-law, Kathleen Lipari and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his four-legged friend, Benji and his grand dogs, Ginny and Abby.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Antonina Cutrera Lipari and his brother, Frank Lipari.
