Krotz Springs - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mary Beth Soileau Morton at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Krotz Springs, LA. Father Michael DeBlanc and Deacon Clayton Hollier will officiate the Mass. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in St. Anthony of Padua Church Cemetery in Krotz Springs.
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Mary Beth Soileau Morton, known to many as “Beth” on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at the Crossing at Clarity Hospice in Baton Rouge at the age of 49.
Beth was a native of Krotz Springs, LA, and current resident of Gonzales, LA. She was an Executive Administrative Assistant and enjoyed working at the State Department of Treasury and the Division of Administration Office of General Counsel where she developed long lasting relationships. She approached her job with enthusiasm and devotion.
She was an active parishioner and volunteered at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Gonzales, LA. She helped with Partners in Education for Dutchtown Primary School and Middle School. She also volunteered for Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and the Welcome Committee for the HOA in the neighborhood. She was a sports fan and supported her Tigers both LSU and Auburn. She was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, and cherished spending time with her family and friends. Beth's kindness and generosity will be missed by all who knew and loved her, but she will be forever remembered by the bright smile that could light up a room and everyone’s lives.
She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Ben Morton of Gonzales, LA; her sons, Bryce and Braylon Morton of Gonzales, LA; her mother, Joyce Wiltz Soileau of Krotz Springs, LA; her in-laws, Toshiko Morton of Montgomery, Alabama; Bernard Morton and Diana Morton of Auburn, Alabama; her brothers, James Soileau II and wife, Jamie of Youngsville, LA; and Greg Soileau and wife, Lori of Denham Springs, LA; her nieces and nephews, Kate Soileau, Emerson Soileau, Stephen Soileau, Blakely Soileau, Allison Morton, Ritchie Davies, Zach Lavoy, Lacie Lavoy, Cullen O'Boyle, Kaycie O'Boyle, Toni O'Boyle, Christa Lee, and Angela Lee; her brothers-in-law, Daniel Morton of Montgomery, Alabama; and Mark Lavoy of Montgomery, Alabama; and her sisters-in-law, Theresa Morton of Tallassee, Alabama; Sue O’Boyle and her husband, Tom O'Boyle of Alexandria, Virginia; and Donna Lavoy of Williamsburg, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Edward “Jimmy” Soileau, Sr.; her sons, Chase Edward Morton and Cameron Sato Morton; her maternal grandparents, Alfred Wiltz, Sr. and Lovina Guidry Wiltz; her paternal grandparents, Hugh Soileau, Sr. and Bertha Hollier Soileau; her uncle, Hugh Soileau, Jr. and her cousin, Alan Soileau.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Krotz Springs. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening. Visitation will continue on Thursday, July 22, 2021, in the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
Pallbearers will be James Soileau II, Greg Soileau, Bernard Morton, Felton Soileau, Gary Van Winkle, Dirk Thibodeaux, Fred Mack, and Bill Wiltz.
Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Morton, Tom O'Boyle, Allen Wiltz, Alfred Wiltz, Jr., Ed Wiltz, Arnold Wiltz, and Robb Soileau.
