Mary Vinice "Vine" Mayeux

October 25, 1930 — July 15, 2022

It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Vinice Mayeux announce her death on at 8:15 a.m. on Friday, July 15, 2022 at her residence in Washington, LA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will he held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday,  July 19, 2022, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington, LA. The Reverend Matthew Higginbotham will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Ms. Vine, age 91, was a homemaker and was actively involved with her Immaculate Conception Catholic Church parish. She was a member of the Washington Rosary Group as well as the Come Lord Jesus group. She taught Catechism in Washington and served as a Eucharistic Minister. Ms. Vine also loved to work in her yard, caring for the things that she planted and making sure everything looked beautiful.

She was blessed with seven children Linda Mayeux, Keith Mayeux and wife Maureen, David Mayeux and wife Jerelyn, Daniel Mayeux, Jon Mayeux and wife Donna, Jeff Mayeux and wife Julie and Jude Mayeux and wife Susan; her sister, Mercedes Watt; nineteen grandchildren, Steven Fontenot, Megan Dyson, Michelle Russell, Meredith Mayeux, Nicholas Mayeux, Dr. Alex Mayeux, Benjamin Mayeux, Kristie Mayeux, Katie Cain, Alex Seese, Grace Romano, Lauren Mayeux, Holly Mayeux, Amber Mayeux, Joel Mayeux, Jennifer Mayeux, Josh Stroup, Jordan Stroup and Tyler Mayeux and twelve great grandchildren, Julia, Dustin, Sophia, Max, Miller, Natalie, James, Rumi, Asher, Mila, Harrison, and Aureliah.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Godfrey D. Mayeux; parents, Lewis and Ollie Ardoin Fontenot; brother, Nelson Fontenot and a sister, Betty Reed.

Pallbearers will be her sons Keith, David, Daniel, Jon, Jeff and Jude Mayeux.

The family would like to give a thank you to Hope Healthcare and Hospice and give a very special thank you to her daughter, Linda Mayeux for living, loving and caring for "mom" for the last three years of her life.

Visiting will begin on Monday, July 18, 2022, at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. the funeral home will reopen on Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.

LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas has been entrusted with the arrangements.
