Opelousas – Funeral services will be held for Merlene Breaux Guillory at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2022, in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas, La. Deacon Jerome Collins conduct the service. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas with a Rosary being prayed at 3:30 p.m. by Deacon Jerome Collins.
Pallbearers will be Rory DaVille, Chris Guillory, Wayne Steven Fontenot, Logan Guillory, Nick Malagarie and Brandon Smith.
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Merlene Breaux Guillory, age 84, on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Merlene was a homemaker and loved taking care of her family. She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, and collecting figurines. She loved having coffee with family and friends, cooking and baking her famous chocolate cake. Merlene enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her sons, Carlton Guillory (Cynthia), Patrick Guillory (Michelle) and Eric Guillory (Brandy); her daughters, Claudette DaVille (Carl), Ethel Dupont and Yvonne Cormier (Sam); her brother, Nolan Breaux (Patricia); her sister, Audrey Fontenot and her sister-in-law, Rose Breaux. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Jared DaVille, Rory Daville, Lainey Malagarie, Caleb DaVille, Chris Guillory, Destiny Guillory, Samantha Pitre, Logan Guillory, Kalyn Fontenot Guillory, Raegan Guillory, Sydnie Chenervert, and nineteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Guillory; her parents, Ralph Breaux and Emma Kidder Breaux; her brothers, Joseph Roy Breaux and Herbert Breaux and his wife, Ann Rose; and her brother-in-law, Roderick Fontenot.
