Opelousas - Funeral services will be held for Otis Shelby Taylor at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 23, 2021, in the Skip Montet Chapel of Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home. The committal will follow in Bellevue Memorial Park.

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Otis Shelby Taylor, age 92, on Friday, August 20, 2021.

Mr. Taylor was an amazing husband, father, brother and friend. When not spending time with his family, Otis could be found sitting in his recliner watching old western movie with a highball in his hand. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived his wife of 60 years, Emily Taylor; son, Sammy (Jaqueline) Taylor; daughter, Jeannie (Ernest) Parson; brother, Buddy (Mary Ann) Taylor; grandchildren, Steven Dowdell, Mat Taylor, Adam Taylor and Kelly Conner; great-grandchild, Evelyn "Doodlebug" Dowdell; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Otis "Jack" Taylor and Virginia Taylor; brothers, Carl Taylor and R.L. Taylor.

Pallbearers will be Steven Dowdell, Kelly Conner, Mat Taylor, Adam Taylor, Sammy Taylor and Ernest Parson.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 22, 2021, in the Skip Montet Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home from 3:00pm until 8:00pm. The funeral home will re-open for visitation at 8:00am on Monday, August 23, 2021.
