Opelousas - Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 26, 2020 for Otis Dupre, known to many as "Cho", in the Skip Montet Chapel at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas. Deacon Sammy Diesi will officiate the services. Rite of Committal and interment will follow at St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery in Plaisance.
Otis Dupre, age 89 and resident of Opelousas, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020 at Senior Village Nursing Home in Opelousas.
Cho worked as a custodian at Opelousas Junior High for many years. He was also a farmer of sweet potato, corn and cotton crops. As a past-time, Cho raised cattle and tended to his mule, "Liza". He loved cooking Sunday dinners and spending time with his family. Cho will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his daughter, Gwen Fontenot and her husband, Blain of Ville Platte; sisters, Emilee Stelly and Mercedes Bihm, both of Opelousas; eleven grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ita Dupre; parents, Marshall Dupre and Elmire Vidrine Dupre; sons, Carl Dupre, Roderick Dupre and Keith Dupre; brothers, Donald Dupre, Clarence Dupre, Marius Dupre and Jesse Dupre; and sisters, Jane Fontenot, Mae Roberie, Yvonne Ledoux and Laura D. Lafleur.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday evening by Deacon Sammy Diesi. Visitation will continue on Sunday, January 26, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m.
