Opelousas-Funeral services for Ronnie Susan Watkins D'Avy will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel in Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. Deacon Sammy Diesi will officiate the services.
Ms. D'Avy, age 67, who was a resident of Opelousas, Louisiana, died on Saturday, August 8, 2020, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family.
She was a bookkeeper for many years and was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She loved planting flowers and watching them bloom. She enjoyed dancing and her companionship with her dogs and a special bird named, Baby as a pastime. She cherished her family and especially helping and spending time with her grand kids. Ronnie will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughters, Sandy D'Avy Fontenot and husband, Charles of Opelousas; and April D'Avy of Opelousas; her brother, Gordon Donald Watkins and wife, Mayra of Opelousas; her sister-in-law, Majorie D'Avy Robin of Opelousas; and her brothers-in-law, Nubby "Bubba" D'Avy and wife, Lillian of Baton Rouge; and Terry D'Avy and wife, Janine of Monterey, LA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Chelsea Robin and husband, Trent; Ellen Fontenot and fiancé, Kenneth Morris; Haily Lassere and fiancé, Spencer Arroyo; Hunter Fontenot, Gage Lassere, and Camille Richard; great-grandchildren, Marshall Robin, Emma Robin, and Aspen Arroyo; one Godchild, Donald Boyce Watkins; a special friend, Keith Zerangue; and a host of several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall D'Avy; mother, Beatrice Benoit Venable; and father, Gordon Luther Watkins.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel in Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home. A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
The family would like to give a special thank you to everyone for all the prayers and support. Additionally, the family would like to extend a special appreciation to Tammy Cushman and the staff of Heart of Hospice for caring for her at the end of her life.
