Thomas Bullara

Opelousas- Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mr. Thomas “Tommy” Joseph Bullara, age 71, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church.  Rite of Committal and interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas, LA. Rev. Fr. Gregory Simien, of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church will celebrate the Mass. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 2, 2023, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas.  Visitation will continue Tuesday, January 3, 2023, from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.  A Rosary will be prayed in his honor at 6 p.m., Monday, January 2, 2023, by Deacon Ulysse Joubert at the funeral home.

Tommy was a native and longtime resident of Opelousas. He went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, December 31st. He passed away peacefully at Prompt Succor Nursing Home with his wife of 52 years, Anita by his side. Tommy was born on July 6, 1951 in Opelousas to the late James and Hazel Courville Bullara. He was a graduate of Opelousas High School. On February 8, 1970, he married his high school sweetheart, Anita Matt Bullara, who he took care of until his very last breath. He worked for Stanford Flooring for many years. He loved taking his family to Destin, FL for family vacations. He was so very proud to become Paw-Paw of nine grandkids. Tommy loved playing golf, shooting pool, hunting, fishing, and watching golf and football, but the one thing he loved above all was cooking for his family and friends, especially boiled crawfish. He always had chicken stew cooked for his grandkids. He was one of the owners of the 4 Plus 1 Hunting Club, his home away from home.

Tommy is survived by his wife, Anita; his sons, Chad (wife Tawnia) and Eric (wife Leslie); his daughter, Nicole Dimonde (husband Will); and grandkids, Victoria D., Bryce B., Zachary B., Isaac B., Luke D., Adam D., Dylan D., Brooklyn D., and Holly D. He is also survived by his brothers, Jimmy (wife Patsy) and Dean (wife Leanne); and his sisters, Stella Lirette (husband Kirk), Donna Dupre (husband Phil) and Lisa Whipp (husband Troy); and sister-in-law, Mary Beth Bullara; mother-in-law, Enez Matt; brothers-in-law, Sidney Matt (wife Peggy) and Michael Matt (wife Cindy); and a host of nieces and nephews.

Tommy is preceded in death by his father and mother, James and Hazel Bullara; sisters, Vernita Ducharme (husband Jerry) and Rebecca Bullara; brother, Vincent Bullara; and father-in-law, Voohries Matt.

Pallbearers will be Chad Bullara, Eric Bullara, Will Dimonde, Bryce Bullara, Zachary Bullara, and Isaac Bullara.  Honorary pallbearer will be Luke Dimonde.
