Church Point - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas "Tommy" Shane Wimberly, age 44, a resident of Church Point, LA, on Monday, July 26, 2021.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA, with The Reverend Father Brian Harrington, Celebrant.  A private Rite of Committal will follow at a later date in Bellevue Memorial Park, Opelousas, LA.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Guidry Funeral Home (219 N. Broadway Street, Church Point, LA, 70525) from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.  A Rosary will be recited at 12:30 p.m. by Deacon Douglas Wimberly.

Tommy graduated in 1995 from Church Point High School where he lettered as a varsity cheerleader.  After high school, he graduated from the Aveda Institute and went on to work at several high-profile salons in Lafayette and Baton Rouge.  He also worked with several makeup companies where he excelled as an independent artist for weddings and many other various events.  Tommy was very family oriented, especially the time he enjoyed with his three nieces.  He loved reminiscing, taking pictures, watching movies and following the careers of many renowned actors, actresses and musicians.  Tommy will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his mother, Ramona Wimberly Burns and her husband, Herman; his brother, Bill Wimberly and his wife, Melissa; his three nieces, Mallory, Sierra and Avery Wimberly and his great-nephew August Harmon.  He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Paul Wimberly; his maternal grandparents, Leonce and Pearl Thibodeaux; and his paternal grandparents, Lou and Annis Wimberly.
