According to the governors orders and the wishes of the immediate family, masks will be required for anyone wishing to enter the funeral home.
Funeral services for Velma Rayon Gerace Maddie will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2020 in the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Melville. Visiting will be held from 8:30 a.m. until service time at 10:30 a.m. Rite of committal will follow in the St. John Catholic Cemetery in Melville. The Reverend Francis Miller will conduct the religious service.
Ms. Maddie was born in Whiteville, LA and was a longtime resident of Bayou Current, LA. She died on Monday, September 7, 2020 at 4:20 a.m. in the Riviere de Soleil Community Care Center in Mansura, LA.
Velma loved life and always had a great attitude and outlook on life. When she smiled, her bright blue eyes would light up and dance. She loved to joke around, to dance and take walks. Travelling was always a joyous time for Velma, especially when it included her family. She enjoyed raising chicken, turkeys and other animals on the family farm. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, Dwain Gerace and wife Jeannie; daughters, Rita Gerace Quebedeaux and husband Allen, Beverly Gerace Wilson and husband David Michael; grandchildren, Mark Quebedeaux and wife Darlene, Annjanette Savant, Michael Gerace and wife Ramona, Jerry Pourciau, Chad Gerace and wife Karen, Kara Sparks and husband Jonathan; great grandchildren, Emma Quebedeaux, Rebecca Quebedeaux, Kate Savant and Kyle Savant; and great-great grandchild, Greta Lynn Savant.
She is preceded in death by her 1st husband, Louis Vincent Gerace, her 2nd husband, Steve Maddie; parents, Robert and Bessie Deville Rayon and her sibling, Mary Wamble and Elton Rayon.
